Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Dear Patients,

If you are experiencing fever, chills, body aches, cough, sore throat or diarrhea, please call our office before coming in.

Helpful Information

Coronavirus, also known as Covid-19, is a highly contagious respiratory disease for which there is currently no vaccine. Those most at risk for infection include adults age 65 and older, those with pre-existing chronic health conditions (such as respiratory disease, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions) and individuals with compromised immunity.

Symptoms of Covid-19 can include fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath and diarrhea. The virus is spread mainly from person-to-person through respiratory droplets produced during coughing and sneezing. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby (within 6 feet) or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. According to the CDC, it is possible for someone to contract the virus by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their mouth, nose or eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

How we are protecting our patients

  • We are following the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and frequently monitoring updates from the local health department and the World Health Organization.
  • Expanded our respiratory infection management protocol
  • Separating our acutely sick patients form non-sick patients
  • Enhancing our cleaning procedures.
  • Requiring patients and employees with symptoms of possible respiratory infection to stay home.
  • Taking daily temperatures of our employees
  • Making sure our waiting areas have a constant supply of hand sanitizers and facial tissue and encouraging patients to use them when sneezing or coughing

What you can do to protect yourself

  • Stay informed. The most reliable sources of information are Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, The World Health Organization and your local health department.
  • Practice good hygiene by washing your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing and keeping your hands away from your face.
  • Boost your immune system by eating healthy and avoiding foods that weaken the immune system such as sugars, refined grains and processed foods.
  • Get plenty of rest (at least 8 hours per night)
  • Talk to your healthcare provider about adding a multivitamin supplement to your daily regimen
  • Get regular exercise
  • Stay home if you develop flu-like symptoms and call your healthcare provider immediately if you think you may have symptoms of coronavirus.
