Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Dear Patients,
Coronavirus, also known as Covid-19, is a highly contagious respiratory disease for which there is currently no vaccine. Those most at risk for infection include adults age 65 and older, those with pre-existing chronic health conditions (such as respiratory disease, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions) and individuals with compromised immunity.
Symptoms of Covid-19 can include fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath and diarrhea. The virus is spread mainly from person-to-person through respiratory droplets produced during coughing and sneezing. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby (within 6 feet) or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. According to the CDC, it is possible for someone to contract the virus by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their mouth, nose or eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.
